In-House Work

The Salvation Army
From January 2020 to July 2021, I served as the in-house Media Relations Specialist for The Salvation Army across Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi. During that time, I managed the organization’s social media copy and blog posts, shaping its voice and messaging. Working in disaster services during a global pandemic presented unique challenges, but it also offered invaluable experience in crisis communication and community engagement. A selection of my work can be found below, with additional examples on the organization’s social channels and website.

The University of Southern Mississppi
During my six-year tenure as both an undergraduate and graduate student, I held multiple roles that enriched my understanding of effective communication, strategic planning, and community engagement. As a reporter for the school paper and radio station, I refined my storytelling skills and developed an eye for compelling narratives. Serving as a talent scout for the university’s record label immersed me in the local arts scene, where I cultivated meaningful connections that enriched campus culture. Additionally, assisting the head of marketing for our College of Arts and Letters allowed me to deepen my expertise in project management and promotional strategy—solidifying my ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to impactful campaigns.

Malaco Records
I served as a PR Specialist for Malaco Records, also known as “The Last Soul Company” in 2018 - 2020. Since 1968, Malaco has been a trailblazer in southern R&B, soul, and gospel, propelling the careers of numerous noteworthy artists. In this role, I wrote engaging blog posts, conducted artist interviews, and supported various public relations initiatives to spotlight Malaco’s rich heritage and diverse roster. By amplifying the stories and sounds behind the label’s iconic catalog, I helped sustain the storied legacy that continues to define contemporary music culture.
